Family have £1.5m ‘apartment on wheels’ specially built so they can travel around Australia in luxury

A FAMILY of eight will travel around Australia in a luxury “apartment on wheels” after commissioning their dream $2 million (£1.5million) campervan.

The two-storey van has two bedrooms equip with televisions, a bathroom, and a kitchen-dining area featuring lacquered cabinets and plush leather chairs.

Other luxury features include central heating and air con both upstairs and downstairs.

The “home -away-from-home” van is being specially built for the family by SLRV Expedition Vehicles.

It was the biggest and most technically advanced build Warwick Boswerger and his team had ever done but they were keen to take on the challenge.

He told MailOnline: “Our customers are keen on exploring the country or even the world. They want to get into places that caravans and the like can’t take them.

“The owner wanted it to be like a unit. He wanted freezing cold air conditioning and warm heating both upstairs and downstairs.

“There are six kids in the family, so that means a lot of cooking and cleaning appliances too.”

The motor home also has an external kitchen – just in case the family fancies dining beneath the stars.

And because the van is battery-powered, all technology can be charged during transit.

A solar panel on the roof will also provide extra power when needed.

Boswerger added: “This family certainly didn’t want to rough it. They wanted to be self-sufficient even in the middle of nowhere.”
