6.5 Earthquake Strikes Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan

According to the USGS, the location of the quake was 36.523N, 70.979E at a depth of 187 km.

The epicenter of the 6.8 quake was in the Hindu Kush mountain range near the remote northern Afghan province of Badakhshan.

The earthquake was felt in parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, and sent panicked residents into the streets.

There have been no reports to date of damages or injuries.
