PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. ( WTOC )- It might be a journey down the road or a days- extended road trip, either way, the streets and stars are filled with tourists looking a trip away. The 4th of July weekend is similar to every other vacation trip, only a few days to pack the car or suitcase and go with home. Almost 71 million people are expected to travel over the next few weeks, according to the people we spoke with, and they may not be too far off. AAA has predicted a steady decline in travellers every year since Covid-19, and 2.3 million people in Georgia are expected to be hoping in their vehicles and traveling down the road. According to Georgia State Patrol, with more people driving over the upcoming days, police existence will increase. They are urging everyone to remain alert and healthy this holiday week.
