Are you looking for the top area destinations to visit in 2024? Next Updated 18 minutes ago.
When they hear the phrase “island getaway,” several American tourists immediately consider jetting off to the Caribbean. And while it’s true that the Caribbean is home to some incredible archipelago, there are also a ton of beach locations close to where we live.
These islands in the United States are full of personality and charm, even though they might not be quite as spectacular as the Caribbean. These are the best places to check off your travel wish list this year if you’re looking for an island getaway that’s closer to home.
Florida’s Essential West
The Florida Keys are without a doubt the best beach resort in the country. This is the tropical getaway you need if you do n’t want to leave the United States.
A group of islands known as the Florida Keys are situated off the coast of southern Florida. Basically, they are situated farther south than many of the territories in the Bahamas!
The liveliest area of the Keys, Key West, has a lot going on all year long, from the odd Conch Republic Independence Celebration in April to the even odder Hemingway Days in July.
South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head Island is another of the best islands in the US to attend. Why would you want to visit Hilton Head in 2024?
Due to its fantastic beaches, endearing shops and boutiques, delectable restaurants, and outdoor pursuits like hiking, biking, swim sailing, it was just named America’s best beach by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards.
Hilton Head is a part of the Lowcountry in South Carolina, which is known for its Gullah identity. The Gullah are descended from West Africans who lived in the Lowcountry as slaves.
Massachusetts, Nantucket
The epitome of New England summertime travel is Nantucket. This area, which is off Cape Cod in Massachusetts, is very lovely, with rocky seashores, lighthouses, and lovely gray-shingled homes constructed in the recognizable Cap Cod style.
Nantucket is becoming more well-liked as a head time place, even though it is busiest in the summer from June through first September.
The head time, particularly in April, May, and October, is a great time to travel to Nantucket because there are fewer crowds and fantastic vacation rental rates, which are frequently 50 % or more off than during the peak summer season.
Florida’s Sanibel Island
Sanibel Island in Florida is another of the best archipelago in the United States. This little island on the Gulf of Mexico is ideal for a tranquil, low-key place because it is only 45 minutes from Fort Myers.
Sanibel Island is renowned for being a serene and tranquil place. There is n’t much to “do” there besides spending time at the beach, exploring the island’s nature reserve, getting a bite to eat, or shopping in the tiny town because it is so small.
But that adds to Sanibel’s appeal. This is the place to go if you want to escape it all! Additionally, it’s a wonderful year-round place with consistently warm and sunny weather.
Visitors should be aware that Hurricane Ian is also having a significant impact on several areas of the island. You can find more information below.
Georgia’s St. Simons Island
Last but not least, St. Simons Island is one of the best underappreciated territories in America. St. Simons, one of the Golden Isles—a collection of challenge islands off the coast of Georgia—is a stunning vacation spot.
For 2024, Georgia will be a popular U.S. travel destination as more and more tourists learn about all that this Southwestern state has to offer.
One of those items is having excellent beaches. St. Simons Island is a popular place to go golfing, fishing, eat, and shop in addition to having stunning, robust beaches.
