A new study for 2023, conducted by Christmas Tree World, has renewed its 2022 Christmas market rankings to create a brand newultimate European Christmas market guide for 2023.

The UK’s largest independent Christmas tree retailer analysed Google search results, Instagram mentions, TikTok tag views, the duration of each market, and the average price of a hotel in each city to reveal which markets can take the title of Europe’s BEST this year!

Krakow takes this year’s top spot with the BEST Christmas market in Europe for 2023 with an overall Christmas market score of 7.84/10. The Christmas market has racked up a whopping 4.3M TikTok views as well as over 82K Google searches. With the price of a nightly stay starting at just €90, Krakow is the perfect Christmas getaway this year. From mulled wine to grilled sausages, the Polish gem will be serving an array of festive delicacies for a total of 33 days!

Tallinn ranks as the second-best European Christmas market for 2023, with an overall score of 7.83 out of 10. Tallinn’s annual market has also been named one of the most Instagrammable markets in Europe with 5.4K Instagram mentions. Running for a term of 38 days, there is plenty of time to enjoy the market during your stay in the Estonian capital!

Budapest ranks as the third-best Christmas market for 2023, scoring 7.65 out of 10. Budapest hosts one of the longest-running UK Christmas markets for this year, spreading festive cheer in Hungary for a total of 44 days. Budapest scored well for its affordable accommodation with a nightly stay costing around €101 at a three-star hotel, perfect for a last-minute getaway this Christmas. Visitors can enjoy a range of speciality food and beverages while taking in the twinkling stalls and majestic architecture.
