Following on conversations at ILTM Cannes 2022, Buenos Aires- a city constantly evolving, aims to be one of the top destinations in 2023 focusing, according to Karina Perticone, Executive Director of Visit Buenos Aires, on three main pillars: gastronomy, culture and sustainability.

With various new openings within the sector of hospitality, the organization of Visit Buenos Aires is presenting a high-end offering targeting international tourists.

Gastronomic experiences from new food markets to three of the World’s 50 Best Bars
Since the travel industry has been rebooted post-pandemic, the city slowly began to reopen, the local government allowed food venues to have outdoor areas on the sidewalks. This trend has continued further in the post-pandemic and has led to the creation of new gastronomic areas that have emerged in different neighbourhoods of the city. In this sense, gastronomy continues to be a “must” for both tourists and residents.

The city of Buenos Aires houses thousands of bars and restaurants, many of which are recognized among the best in Latin America and the world, among the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, 10 are in Buenos Aires and among the World’s 50 Best Bars, three of them being in Buenos Aires. The renewed offer leads to hotel openings, new restaurants, bars, and a complete and diverse cultural scene making the Argentine capital the perfect tourist destination.

Culture from Theatre and Tango to being the Capital of the Book
In the cultural segment, one of the main novelties is the opening of Colón Fábrica, an interactive space where visitors can enjoy the backstage of the majestic Teatro Colón and an exhibition of a selection of iconic designs used in the most important shows.

As a product of Argentina’s remarkable diversity and displays an eclectic blend of cultures and customs, tango shows are one of the key activities in which tourists can take part while visiting Buenos Aires. Housed inside the spectacular luxury Hotel Faena, Rojo Tango is a unique spectacle that captures all the senses by fusing noises, aromas, colours, movement, and flavours.

Among the Capitals of the Book by UNESCO, Buenos Aires has the largest number of bookstores per inhabitant in the world. In addition to the well-known El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookshop, many new addresses are growing. The union of cultural places with bars that can only be visited by appointment is a new trend in the city. They are ideal spaces to escape for a moment from restless Buenos Aires through exclusive experiences and recover energy to continue exploring.

Being Sustainable across design, activity, and wildlife
Within the sustainability efforts, green areas and 160 km of bike lanes have been internationally acclaimed for their sustainable design, supporting a variety of healthful activities for both visitors and habitants of Buenos Aires. Once with the C40 Sustainability Summit 2022, hosted for the first time in Buenos Aires and Latin America, the city has committed to halving its carbon emissions by 2030 and going fully carbon neutral by 2050.

The brand-new city hall in Buenos Aires, which the American Planning Association named the greatest sustainable building of 2016, is one example of an innovative energy-efficient structure. The British architect Norman Foster created this environmentally friendly structure as part of a neighbourhood revitalization initiative. Additionally, a lot of hotels have already attained the three-level eco-seal standard, which is a project that validates an establishment’s environmental credentials.

The city tourist board’s guided tours include the sun, fresh air, and noteworthy sights. Guides also provide extensive, four- or five-hour hikes that cover several of the city’s top attractions for more energetic guests. More than 200 kilometers of bicycle lanes may be found throughout Buenos Aires. In addition, the city is mostly flat, making cycling a convenient and environmentally benign mode of transportation.

Buenos Aires is home to more than 320 different bird species, and numerous birding circuits draw both professionals and amateurs. The Costanera Sur nature reserve, which has been acknowledged for its significance in conservation by the Birdlife International organisation, is one of the most well-known locations. Other well-known locations are the Parque Sarmiento in Saavedra and the Tres de Febrero park in Palermo.
