A look into the right for airlines customers

( CBS DETROIT ) — With Fourth of July travel in full swing, consumers should know what’s changed since the last big travel season in December 2023. In April, the U. S. Department of Transportation issued fresh consumer protection laws that could save tourists$ 500 million annually. The Detroit Metro Airport only had two interrupted planes and no canceled flights as of Tuesday evening, which is a significant improvement over Darron Cole’s previous two scheduled flights a few years ago. According to Cole,” I got a really good solution that I thought was to good to be true.” Turns out it was too good to be true, and my flight was delayed by more than six hours. Cole also claimed that the airline he was using did n’t compensate him, and that he was n’t aware that he should have requested it. Even with the Department of Transportation’s fresh settlement needs, there’s no specific amount that must be given. ” That payment is still not entirely clear”, said David Fishman, user of Cadillac Travel Group in Southfield. You must know what your own rights are and be your own activist, says Fisherman, before making a reservation for a flight. ” If you research, you will find your right”, Fishman said. You must learn what those rights are in order to be prepared for the condition. That way you are aware of what you deserve and what you can ask for.” It’s a lesson Cole wished he had n’t had to learn the hard way. ” It was true unpleasant and I wish I would’ve known about the settlement differences”, Cole told CBS News Detroit. ” I would’ve pursued I just did n’t know”.More from CBS News
