Travel agents in Southeast Texas are being detained on felony theft charges in connection with allegations of defrauding users.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Southeast Texas vacation adviser in Beaumont has been detained on suspicion of misdemeanor fraud. Emily Lockhard-Furry was detained on Monday, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to this, Lockhard- Fury was accused of accepting money from clients and failing to follow through on the holidays they supposedly purchased. One South Carolina resident successfully sued her. According to a complaint obtained by 12News, Traveluxe Official, owned by Lockhard- Shaggy, specializes in creating dream holiday excursions. According to the approved court documents, Lockhart-Furry broke with a consumer outside of South Carolina. Similar allegations exist on social media in Southeast Texas, but those cases have n’t been filed in court. A lawsuit filed in the 136th District Civil Court claims that the local travel agency accepted an 80, 557 advance payment for a lavish Italian getaway, but the South Carolina user had to withdraw and that their deal allegedly owed a payment of that loan. Lockhard- Shaggy said in writing that she’d refund the money in four payment, but only about$ 10, 000 was received. The customer then called a lawyer and filed a lawsuit for the remaining$ 70,000. In the end, a prosecutor decided to award the consumer the money she owed plus another$ 140, 000 because she had violated the Consumer Protection Act.
