Trips to Africa by a group from Jinhua City, East China, for closer trade and cultural ties

JINHUA, China, April 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — From March 24 to April 2, a group from Jinhua City in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province visited Tanzania, Rwanda and South Africa.

The group traveled from northern Zhejiang to the African continent, where they met old friends and made new ones, looking for compromise, cooperation, and win-win growth, in an effort to write a new book in the state’s industrial assistance and increased trade and people-to-people exchanges with Africa, according to The Information Office of Jinhua City.
The Jinhua delegation and more than 260 local companies and organisations signed a number of cooperation contracts involving agricultural machinery, barter trade platforms, one-stop procurement of hardware resources, and other areas at the China- Tanzania Investment Forum &, China ( Jinhua )- Tanzania Trade and Investment Promotion Conference on March 27. The contract value totaled 65 million U.S. money.
Jinhua has constantly participated in the co-development of the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years through ongoing, deep-level economic cooperation and trade markets with American nations.
About 30 000 Jinhua entrepreneurs have been conducting business in Africa for many years, and the town has established trade relations with all of Africa’s nations and regions. In the area, there are over ten thousand businesses engaged in cross-border deal with Africa. Last year, almost 50, 000 American retailers came to Jinhua for products order.
According to information from Jinhua’s customs, from 2010 to 2023, the state’s overall exports to Africa increased from 5.84 billion yuan to 106.64 billion renminbi, an 18- slide increase in 14 years.
Last year, trade with Africa exceeded 100 billion yuan for the first time, reaching 116.85 billion yuan, accounting for 30.8 percent of Zhejiang’s trade with Africa and ranking first in the field among prefecture- level cities in China.
On March 28, Jinhua and Rwanda signed a letter of intent to intensify cooperation in vocational education, and Musanze, Rwanda hosted the opening ceremony for international students.
The Rwandan education qualification framework system incorporates two professional teaching standards developed by the college and international partners, according to Zhang Yanping, vice president of Jinhua Polytechnic.
Jinhua Polytechnic has participated in a number of provincial and national overseas vocational education and training initiatives, helping a group of Rwandan natives who master both Chinese and professional skills.
The Cape Town Grand Theatre in South Africa, which is the sister theater of Zhejiang Wu Opera Art Research Institute, was visited by the Jinhua delegation on April 1. In July last year, when the two sides inked ties, they staged their respective representative performances, whose charm earned rounds of applauses.
