Recent travel tips for German immigrants regarding traveling to Russia has been revised by the German Foreign Ministry, with a stronger emphasis on discouraging European members and persons holding double membership, from visiting Russian Federation. Before, the state of Germany had just advised against visiting Russia.
A press release from the government, issued yesterday, says that the decision to make the shift was prompted by the continuous severe deterioration of civil and human rights and breakdown of law and order situation in Russia, which include a soaring speed of arbitrary arrests.
” In this context, ]long ] prison sentences are repeatedly imposed arbitrarily for public statements critical of the government — sometimes due to private statements on social media”, German foreign ministry officials warned in the release.
” In connection with illicit rallies and presentations, huge, occasionally violent behavior by security causes can occur throughout the country”, the government press release read.
Germany’s Russia go advice update comes just days after chapel events honoring the deceased criticism advocate Alexei Navalny, who died under suspicious circumstances in an Arctic penal colony next month, hundreds of individuals in Russia were detained.
The latest expert nevertheless cautions against traveling to the Russian areas bordering Ukraine. These places, along with Moscow, have experienced some drone strikes in recent months. The media release emphasizes the possibility of more assaults, including on the public transportation system.
The US Embassy in Moscow has also issued an urgent instructions for Americans in Russia’s capital town.
