The BC gardening relatives who established the region’s most cherished flower festivals with the introduction of the Harrison Tulip Festival is actually a new homecoming. In 2006, the Onos family established the first decorative agritourism destination in the Fraser Valley, opening Tulips of the Valley on Seabird Island, just south of Agassiz. After ten long, fruitful years there, they relocated the event to Chilliwack, where the Chilliwack Tulip Festival and Chilliwack Sunflower Festival both celebrated in 2017 and in 2018. Since then, the family has grown its own farm in Agassiz and the Harrison River Valley, where rose fans gathered next summer for the Harrison Sunflower Festival. What can you see at the Harrison Tulip Festival? Kate Onos- Gilbert describes the shift as “returning to our roots where the flower secret second grew.” This is the 18th monthly flower event organized by the Onos home, and it promises to remain magnificent, with 10 bulbs, including 50 tulip varieties, 15 kinds of twin daffodils, and a dozen varieties of hyacinths. At the Harrison Tulip Festival, there are lots of honeysuckle variations on screen. The Harrison Tulip Festival features a large selection of rose types. At the Harrison Tulip Festival, red roses dance in the sunlight. When well, a magnificent two- acre show backyard features mature fruit and nuts trees, flowering shrubs, and verdant pathways lined with thousands of tulips, hyacinths, and possesses, a fresh bloom that promises to be the belle of this year’s festival. Visitors can make family and group portraits with video opportunities, including jump sets, antique tractors and horses carts, antique bicycles, a 1950s foldable, a 1965 Airstream trailer, and raised platforms that make staging photos easy. Every day, two food trucks will be present and will sell food, including authentic Dutch stroopwafels that cleverly evoke the tulips ‘ storied homeland. A farm store also offers souvenirs, fresh- cut and potted flowers, and refreshments for purchase. When is the Tulip Festival? The Harrison Tulip Festival is on now until May 5, creating endless opportunities for capturing spring photos, memories, and experiences while tiptoeing “around” the tulips.
