Book a Stay on Martha’s Vineyard in the Cutest Neighborhood. Vineyard

Many moons ago, I made my first journey to Martha’s Vineyard on a day excursion from Rhode Island. My mother was enamored of the idea of channeling her inward Kennedy, so SVV, my father, some friends, and I were with her. When I first arrived on Martha’s Vineyard, I oohed and ahhed over the homes and was considering where to stay if I always returned. The next time this article was updated was in May 2024. How to get to Martha’s VineyardWe crossed the Providence harbor on a very steep passenger boat, and I spent the entire time praising the glass gods (tempestuous lakes and my delicate chest have never been pleasant companions ). It did n’t work the best to start the day. If you’re in Boston and do n’t have time to stay overnight, you can book a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard and see the highlights. We also had incredibly beautiful weather, and we immediately fell in love with the tiny Massachusetts island, which we bussed around for the time. It was wonderful, it was lovely, it was not anyplace in a million years I always thought I’d find the opportunity to explore on an overnight trip. According to my long-time friend Alex’s late mother Kathryn, the beautiful Vineyard house is located in the Campground at Oak Bluffs, which Alex and her sister book out for six months each summers. She graciously allowed Alex, Angie, and I to stay in her beautiful house for a long weekend, which would turn out to be far beyond our intended eating, drinking, and seeing time. Alex’s family’s home is located right smack in the historic Martha’s Vineyard Campmeeting Association —aka” the Campground” —just minutes from downtown Oak Bluffs. The small streets are n’t best for driving, so most people get around by feet. They also all understand one another, having been companions for decades, often centuries, and are incredibly welcoming of travelers like myself. From the moment we pulled up to the 1870 genius, I was bowled over by its beauty. As someone who is also renovating a 19th-century house and is in the process of renovating it, Alex’s mother and her partner have spent the last few years restoring this old woman to her rightful state. The most Pinterest-worthy house I’ve ever had the enjoyment of staying in was made up of like character, some remnants of old memorabilia, and so many ideal vignettes that Kathryn pieced together. Our lodging was similar to going to summer camp for the weekend, but our cabinmates were n’t strangers and we lived in rental properties called the Four Seasons. Which brings me to primary thing you need to know about planning a trip to Martha’s Vineyard did not appear as any surprise then: There are hotels in Martha’s Vineyard and, especially, boutiques B&amp, Bs near Oak Bluffs— I went to Summercamp, for example, only to check it out, and it’s absolutely beautiful. However, if you do have the chance to try one of the 300 homes in Oak Bluffs ‘ Campgrounds, they are only allowed to rent them out for six days a year, so reservations tend to come up quickly. More information on how to organize a trip to Martha’s Vineyard Friends who have recently attempted to organize similar Martha’s Vineyard trips recently were unable to do so because they could n’t secure a spot on the coveted car ferry. Our ticket for June was made in March. You can also arrange a morning trip to the Vineyard without a vehicle. The vehicle ferry’s departure from Woods Hole on the island of Massachusetts was very quick and easy, which was completely different from what we had to do when we were moving from Rhode Island. Before it was time to climb up into our cars and leave the ferry terminal, we had just enough day to go up top, get a Coke, and check out Oak Bluffs. The next thing you need to know before making travel arrangements to Martha’s Vineyard is that many locations are cash-only. But, if you’re a credit card-heavy traveller like me, make sure you have enough money at your chosen ATM before you arrive on the island or in Oak Hills before you begin your journey. You’ll be glad you followed my counsel, because frequently the three of us were attempting to cram up enough money to pay for our foods.
