McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport managers have plans to expand the airports and increase passenger flow.

After meeting with local government representatives, including Jackson Mayor Scott Conger and Madison County Mayor A. J. Massey, aircraft officials decided there was a need for an upgrade to the jets that people use at the McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport. The Executive Director of the Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority, Steve Smith, said,” We have been making do with smaller flights, but as everyone knows, the economic environment in West Tennessee is changing very quickly, and that’s not going to work for our group again.” The Embraer 135 Jet, which has 30 votes, is currently being looked at by them. Contour Airlines based out of Smyrna, Tennessee, and Denver Air based outside of Denver, Colorado are the two carriers they are looking into. According to Smith, they may even make it possible for people of West Tennessee to travel to other locations for both expanding businesses and residents. This enables our Jackson neighborhood residents to travel north or west, according to Smith. The federal government has designated Jacksonville as an important air support city. This results in the federal government providing weather service to the community. To demonstrate the need for bigger airplane, the Greater Jackson Chamber conducted a survey of the area’s inhabitants to gather their opinion. ” Well, you have to show a want and you have to demonstrate that what we’re planning on doing is based on what the needed really is,” Smith said when you start looking at money and funding from various sources. Smith added that the larger plane will be a significant means of transportation for the people and more travelers in the future as the development of Blueoval City. Here is a connection to fill out the survey. Discuss this…
